Today we went to a Local Produce Fair at Mall Mirage, a small shopping center in Temuco, Chile. There were several small stands selling local cheese, jam, liquors and honey. We met some of the traders and there were two we particularly loved:
Victoria is the owner of Frutos del Parador, a small brand that sells jams, dressings and liquors made with local ingredients and fruits, located in Afunalhue, in the road between Villarrica and Licanray, she uses maki, murta and grosellas (all local fruits) to prepare her jams. She started harvesting her own fruits, but she realized it was more convenient to trade with small orchards near her place. Victoria told us that she went to each orchard to choose her ingredients specially wild berries. She usually mixes different ingredients, for example carrots and orange, walnut and apple, garlic and red pepper.

Maria is a local cheese producer, the name of her brand is Quesos Curacautin. She use the milk produced by her own cows to prepare the cheese and she doesn’t add any chemical to maintain it. Maria mixes different herbs and spices with some of her cheeses, that smells goood. She lives and work in Curacautin.
If you want to know more about Frutos del Parador and Quesos Curacautin just write us :D
Licanray and Curacautin are small villages near volcanos and lakes. Curacautin are close to Llaima volcano and Licanray is near Villarica volcano and Calafquen lake.
