Typical thresh in Puerto Ibanez, Chile. An unusual earthquake day.

Typical Thresh in Puerto Ibanez, Chile

February 27th was a very weird day, starting with confusing information on the radio and television. According to the first information an earthquake occurred in the central area of Chile. But nothing to worry about. Some of us felt something was wrong with the information, but as we planned before we went to Puerto Ibanez, to a typical thresh festivity.

Puerto Ibanez is located south of Coyhaique (Chile) at the shores of lake General Carrera. Ibanez is a small village, surrounded by an amazing landscape, is very close with Argentina and connected by ferry or bus with Chile Chico and the southern/northern/western Patagonia.

A few blocks from the main square we found in a typical rodeo place a special event: “La trilla como la hacia mi abuelo” (The thresh like my grandpa did it! see the poster below)

The place was full of Gauchos (Southern huaso), Patagones (People from Patagonia), Asado al Palo of Lamb (a Superb Patagonian barbecue!!!), freshly made Chicha de Manzana (apple cider) and lots of food!!! YUMI!

It was an amazing sunny day :)
